The Ichtus Hall

During the planning of ICCM we were offered two different locations at the Betteld

The Ark, (we are NOT using):

with space for about 200 people

and the Ichtus Hall

with space for about 1900 people

After lots of thoughts, discussions and prayers we have more or less decided on the (very) large Ichtus Hall. The main reason is the superior wireless capabilities in this hall. The Ark can only cope with about 20 wireless users. The Ichtus Hall has equipment to handle 60 or more wireless connections. Because of this the Betteld offers us to use the Ichtus Hall (and it's equipment) for the same price as the Ark!

There are lots of other aspects to this Hall:

Positives:

  • Large enough to have all the ICCM activities in different spots in the hall. No other rooms needed. We might even have our meals in this hall.

  • Plenty of space to make do multiple workshops and make a computer lab corner
  • Big stage with professional equipment

Here is a floorplan with all the measurements in meters. The Dutch word 'podium' means 'stage'

  • Good wireless infrastructure

Negatives:

  • A group like ICCM Europe looks a lot smaller in a large room.
We do have movable panels to section off parts of the hall.(2.5m wide & 2m tall)
  • The ‘living-room’-family atmosphere is a lot less in a huge hall.
But we also have the white-inn and the tables outside our bedrooms to use in a more confined setting.

P.S. Mick: There is a simple piano available.
